Description
Location: Rankin St. Innisfail Qld. This dramatic sunset (taken 23.11.08) signified that our tropical Far North Qld's hot, humid and sultry wet season has truly arrived once again with the brewing of a major electrical thunderstorm that was to later come in from the coastal eastside. The huge Art Decco style building, with its newly lit up yellow glowing facade, is World Heritage listed. The Shire Hall is still undergoing major restoration repairs since Cyclone Larry which hit the town back in March 2006. It now proudly displays wearing the original Art Decco design colours. ... I was fortunate to met the engineer in charge of the restoration operation only last week who said the facade colours are made up of a plaster base and that these were authenticly matched by analayzing sample scrapings taken from the building. The bright white square light seen in the photo foreground and with Mager's buidling scaffolding behind, is a clock face.
