Near the end of it’s flowering season.
Efflorescent clusters
of fiery red bell-shaped flowers
and pods on red twiggy stems
form at the end of
the Illawarra Flame Tree’s branches.
The bell flowers have five partially fused petals.
Botanical name is Brachychiton acerifolius.
The Illawarra Flame Tree is a unique Australian native of the tropical regions of Australia’s east coast.
